Auch das Organisationsteam des Cannes Lions Festival hat sich in einem Brief an die Pressevertreter geäußert:

Dear friends,

We are deeply saddened to share with you the news that last Friday, 26 June, a friend of the Festival and your colleague, Michael König from Germany’s New Business, passed away.

We have not made any formal announcements to you in order to give Michael’s family as much time and privacy as possible to come to terms with their sudden loss. Please be assured, though, that we have been in close contact with them throughout. Their welfare, and yours, has been of utmost concern to us.

The family would like to sincerely thank Michael’s friends and colleagues in the industry for their overwhelming support, expression of sympathy and warm thoughts. They tell us that Michael often expressed how much he loved his work and the people in the industry; that Cannes Lions was his favourite event and each year he looked forward to meeting people, exchanging ideas and building friendships.

Cannes Lions would like to again thank everyone who was in the Press Centre that afternoon for their help. We especially want to thank those closest to Michael who raised the alarm and immediately tried to assist him. Your actions meant our team could enact emergency procedures, ensuring the onsite paramedics were by Michael’s side as swiftly as possible.

We would also like you to know that we think of everyone involved in the Festival - delegates, speakers, journalists and our own team – as part of the Cannes Lions community, and that we share in your shock and sadness. If anyone has concerns or questions, for themselves or a colleague, or would simply like to talk to us in private, please don’t hesitate to reach out - we will do our best to help.
